This library will function following the tenets of Library Power, a program implemented in 1988 through a partnership between public school libraries and the DeWitt-Wallace Reader's Digest Foundation, and aided by the American Library Association. This 10-year study produces results in libraries nationwide validating libraries and librarians as important players in student learning. To allow the school community to take some ownership of the program, a semi flexible schedule has been adopted. Flexible scheduling encourages:
LMC visits are related to classroom activities.
The LMC can accommodate students of different grade levels simultaneously.
Students learn to locate materials through frequent practice and book checkout is not restricted to class visits only.
Teachers and students receive more individualized service.
