Penn Alexander Library Mission Statement

Picture
It is the mission of the Penn Alexander Instructional Materials Center to empower our students to become independent readers, thinkers, and researchers. The Core Curriculum and the Information Standards produced by AASL and AECT, as well as the tenets of Library Power will be used to foster this goal. Chief among these is the necessity of collaboration with teachers. We pledge therefore to fully open the channels of communication between the School Library Media Specialist (SLMS) and Teachers. For collaboration between Classroom Teachers, Specialists Teachers, and the SLMS is the biggest key to successful use of our Instructional Media Center as a training ground for students who will become lovers of reading, independent researchers and lifelong learners.
